Filming a Promo with The Wonton Soups

Last year we teamed up with a band out of Bethlehem, PA, The Wonton Soups. A band whose vibrance is only rivaled by their wardrobe. The goal of evening was to film several songs to give bookers a sense of how the group comes alive on stage.

We shot each song in a single take using the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro paired with the Rokinon 35mm T1.5 on the DJI Ronin RS2 Pro to minimize any shake. Focus was manually pulled throughout the filming and the band was fully lit by our light setup which included an Aputure 60D, Amaran 200D, plus a few Quasar tubes.

The Wonton Soups brought their own flavor to every track, were fun to work with and we still continue to work with them today. As a former musician who sold their drum kit for the first camcorder, there’s nothing like working with other creatives who absolutely love what they do. Seeing them put their own spin on things, including their cover of “Come On Eileen” which is currently their third most popular song on Spotify, is what I love about working with other artists.

They’re currently performing throughout the Lehigh Valley and Montgomery County, PA so if they’re your scene be sure to keep an eye out for them!
